Moëlan Sur Mer: ocean front shipyard opts for FITT Bluforce piping

Work involving FITT Bluforce pipelines was recently completed for the first time in the French region of Brittany, in the north-west of the country.

The job site, located in the French municipality of Moëlan sur Mer in the Finistère department, involved the installation of more than 400 ml of FITT Bluforce pipes directly in front of the Atlantic Ocean.

The choice of FITT Bluforce pipe was dictated by the need for a sufficiently robust and durable pipe that could be transported by hand to facilitate installation in a space-constrained area.  And it is thanks to the ability of FITT brand pipes to meet these requirements that 420 ml of FITT Bluforce DN 110 PN 16 were installed by the installation company TOULGOAT.

PVC-A (PVC-HI)* as a guarantee of reliability and strength

The polymer alloy of PVC-A (PVC HI)*, of which FITT Bluforce pipes are made, is a material that guarantees high mechanical strength and flexibility. The result is a pipe with permanently ductile behaviour and high puncture and impact resistance, even at low temperatures.

The extreme ductility of FITT Bluforce pipes is the feature that prevents crack propagation in the pipes themselves, thus guaranteeing no brittle cracks.

Salt corrosion: a threat to which FITT Bluforce is inert

Among the qualities that led to the choice of FITT Bluforce hoses, resistance to salt corrosion is undoubtedly a significant feature.

FITT Bluforce has excellent anti-corrosion properties, enabling the pipes themselves to resist chemicals and pollutants and guarantee total impermeability to stray currents.

FITT Bluforce: the benefits of EPD® certification

Choosing FITT Bluforce pipes means not only rewarding performance, but also protecting the environment. FITT Bluforce features EPD® certification, a certified environmental product declaration based on the scientific principles of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).

The EPD certification, international in scope and completely reliable and transparent, provides environmental data on the life cycle of Bluforce products in accordance with the international ISO 14025 standard.

This certification is part of the path that FITT, as a responsible company, has decided to pursue, with the aim of giving back to environmental and social well-being the same dignity attributed to innovation and product performance.

(*) On a regulatory level, it is defined as a polymeric alloy of Poly Vinyl Chloride with high impact strength PVC-HI (such as PVC-M, PVC-A, PVC-CPE). PVC-HI (PVC-M, PVC-A, PVC-CPE) is a thermoplastic material that contains PVC resin with the addition of an impact modifier (PVC-High Impact). Depending on the type of impact modifier, the acronym HI can be replaced with various designations (PVC-A, Acrylic or PVC-A Alloy (polymer alloy); PVC-CPE, Chlorinated Polyethylene; PVC-M, Modified).
