For GAIA S.p. A., the Integrated Water Distribution Service utility responsible for 46 municipalities of the Tuscan provinces of Lucca, Pistoia and Massa Carrara, the choice of PVC-A is the result of a journey that started in 2018.
It was in fact in that year, that during a tender for the laying out of approximately 7,500 m of gravity pipelines in the municipality of Ronchi di Massa (MS), following the criteria of the most financially advantageous product, the body selected FIT Blutech EN 1452 PN10 PVC-U piping with ring stiffness (SN) of 16 kN/m², due to its better resistance to crushing.
A further tender was called for the completion of the sewer network and the renewal of the water distribution network in the municipality of Camaiore (LU) in September of the same year: also in this case, the technical commission of GAIA S.p.A considered the FITT Bluforce PVC-A to be the best solution to the requirements of art. 95, paragraph 2 of Italian Legislative Decree 50/2016: a good price to quality ratio of the materials. The 5,500 metres of FITT Bluforce were laid safely and quickly during the spring of 2019, ensuring hygienic-sanitary preservation of the coast before the start of the summer holiday season.

Another tender was further called in 2019 for the second section of the gravity sewer network in the municipality of Ronchi di Massa (MS), for an overall 9,500 metres. For the second time in a row, thanks to the criterion of the most financially advantageous solution, the better resistance to crushing, and most of all the previous positive experience of GAIA S.p.A. with PVC-A, FITT Bluforce was once again awarded the tender.
And thanks to the total size compatibility between PVC-A and PVC-U., the second lot perfectly connects to the PVC-U pipelines installed in 2018.

The tender for the construction of the new purifying plant in the municipality of Barga (LU) and the sewer manifold servicing the same, for a total of 1,938 m, is currently being awarded. Also this tender has been called following the criterion of the most financially advantageous solution. However, differently from the previous ones, the improvements were dictated by the body at the moment of the call.
SII, the utility calling the tender, has in fact indicated PVC-A as the absolute best, allocating to the polymer alloy the highest score for the adjudication.

The match between GAIA S.p.A and PVC, which came about on the basis of the most financially advantageous solution, and continued on the basis of the guaranteed performance levels of FITT Blutech piping first and FITT Bluforce after.
